To prevent unwanted fees for international calls made through your carrier service, contact them to disable international calling and only use Sparkphone for such calls
International calls to land lines are always at a lower rate than calls to cell phones, so try to use land line numbers whenever possible
To avoid additional fees while traveling abroad:
- Turn off international data roaming
- Turn off automatic updates for apps that are constantly updating, such as e-mail or weather reports.
- Use Wifi whenever possible to check e-mail and browse the web or consider purchasing an international data package for the period you will be gone
- Download maps of where you will be traveling before you leave so you can view them while you are there without accruing data charges
- Check with your carrier service about whether calls you don't accept will be charged the higher international rate
